Toshiba has launched a new series of four-channel high-speed standard digital isolators, DCM34xx01 Series, designed for automotive applications.

The "DCM34xx01 Series" comprises ten devices that provide stable operation with high common-mode transient immunity (CMTI) of 100kV/μs (typ.) and a maximum data transmission rate of 50Mbps.

Adhering to the AEC-Q100 standard, these isolators are designed to ensure the safety and reliability of on-board chargers (OBC) and battery management systems (BMS) in hybrid-electric vehicles (HEV) and electric vehicles (EV).

The importance of these automotive standard digital isolators lies in their ability to maintain isolation and prevent noise propagation, which is said to be crucial for the multi-channel high-speed communications required by HEVs and EVs.

Toshiba's proprietary magnetic coupling type isolated transmission method allows for a high CMTI, ensuring resistance to electrical noise and stable control signal transmission, which contributes to the consistent operation of equipment.

The new isolators are particularly suitable for applications in BMS, OBC, and inverter control equipment within the automotive sector.

In November 2024, Toshiba Electronics Europe began offering engineering samples of the TB9084FTG MOSFET gate driver IC.

The IC is designed for three-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motors, which are favoured by automotive OEMs for their quiet operation and increased longevity.

BLDC motors are increasingly used in various automotive applications, including powered doors, tailgates, and adjustable seating, indicating a shift in the automotive industry towards more durable and efficient motor solutions.
