Three California Tesla owners have filed a class action lawsuit against the automaker, alleging false advertising of electric vehicle (EV) driving ranges, Reuters reported.

The suit, filed in California, referred to a recent Reuters article exposing Tesla's “Diversion Team” in Nevada, allegedly cancelling range related appointments due to mounting owner complaints.

Tesla is accused of breaching vehicle warranties, committing fraud and engaging in unfair competition.

A lawyer representing the Tesla owners said Tesla had responsibility to deliver products which performed as advertised.

The three plaintiffs highlight instances where their Tesla vehicles failed to achieve the promised ranges, despite raising concerns to the company without resolution.

For instance, Reuters reported a Model Y owner from Petaluma, California, claimed they lost approximately 182 miles of range on a 92 mile trip.

The lawsuit aims to represent all California purchasers of new Tesla Model 3, Model S, Model Y, and Model X vehicles.

According to Reuters, the suit “seeks unspecified damages”.
