Geely-owned Polestar is set to expand its global presence by launching operations in France in the summer of 2025.

As part of its strategy to to accelerate the transition to fully electric mobility, the brand has announced the appointment of Stéphane Le Guevel as new managing director to oversee its market launch in France.

Polestar aims to leverage an agency distribution model in France, utilising partnerships within the existing Volvo network. Under the 'no haggle' agency model, the car company sells directly to consumers, bypassing the traditional dealership model - though dealers still handle the administration of the car sale itself, for a fixed fee.

Customers will have the option to purchase vehicles through the Polestar website or visit showrooms, which are planned to be established in key French cities.

Guevel, which over three decades of automotive industry experience, will serve as Polestar France managing director. The new role is effective from February 2025.

Earlier, Guevel held leadership roles at Stellantis and has been managing Polestar brand in Spain and Portugal since 2022.

Guevel said: “After three exciting years on the Iberian Peninsula, I am extremely honoured to launch Polestar in the French market at such a strategic moment for the brand’s international expansion.”

Polestar's reach currently spans 27 markets across North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

The brand's portfolio includes the Polestar 2, Polestar 3, and Polestar 4, with the Polestar 5 GT set for a 2025 introduction, followed by the Polestar 6 roadster and Polestar 7 compact SUV.

Manufacturing operations in North America and Asia will be complemented by the production of the Polestar 7 in Europe.

Polestar aims to halve per-vehicle-sold greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve climate neutrality across its value chain by 2040.
