Stellantis recalls models over software glitch to ESC system

Certain Dodge and Ram models recalled over software glitch that impacts electronic stability control (ESC) system

David Leggett June 10 2024

Stellantis is recalling more than 200,000 SUVs and pickup trucks over a software malfunction that could cause their electronic stability control systems to fail.

The recall would affect certain 2022 Dodge Durango and Ram 2500 and 3500 vehicles made by Stellantis-owned Chrysler, NHTSA said.

Due to the malfunction, the Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) control module may disable the electronic stability control system, the regulator said.

The NHTSA also pointed out that using a vehicle with a disabled stability system could increase the likelihood of a crash.

Since 2012, the NHTSA has mandated that all new passenger cars sold in the US include an ESC system.
