BYD Auto this week appointed BYD Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the Malaysian distributor of the BYD brand controlled by the local Sime Darby group, as the official distributor for its Denza premium battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand.

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) manufacturer also further strengthened its ties with its Malaysian partner by appointing the group’s Sime Darby Auto Imports Sdn Bhd unit as its official importer for Malaysia.

BYD Auto confirmed that with the launch of the Denza brand it “aims to provide Malaysians with a diverse, innovative and premium EV experience.”

Liu Xueliang, head of sales at BYD Asia-Pacific, said his company “is proud to bring its advanced EV technology to Malaysia – a market in which demand for sustainable mobility continues to grow. With Denza, we will be able to offer customers a better experience through our premium technology. We believe Denza will redefine the premium EV experience and set new standards for Malaysian drivers.”
