Rimac Technology launches new automotive technologies at IAA

Rimac plans to manufacture the new technologies unveiled at IAA event at its Croatian facilities.

Automotive technology supplier Rimac Technology has launched a suite of battery, and powertrain technologies at the IAA Mobility 2025 event in Munich, Germany.

The newly launched portfolio also includes new solid state solutions and advancements in its existing batteries and e-Axles.

These introductions follow a series of strategic partnerships with automotive firms such as BMW Group, Saudi Arabia-based Ceer Motors, and Porsche.

Rimac Technology COO Nurdin Pitarević said: "What we're showcasing at IAA represents the convergence of breakthrough innovation and production readiness.

“These aren't simply concept technologies; they’ve been developed to be production-ready solutions that will power hundreds of thousands of vehicles in the coming years."

The company's new battery system, developed in partnership with Mitsubishi Chemical Group and ProLogium, leverages solid-state cell technology to enhance safety, reduce weight, and improve energy density.

On the other hand, the Evo Technology battery platform leverages 46XX Gen2 nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) cells and a thermoplastic composite battery housing.

Rimac Technology said that it has also tailored its Hybrid Technology platform to meet market demands for high-energy and power-dense hybrid battery packs. This platform provides interchangeable cell configurations and integrates cell-to-pack architecture with a focus on safety and thermal management.

In the powertrains segment, Rimac Technology's SINTEG 300 & 550 eAxles, with their ultra-compact design, boast high power and torque density.

These CoAxial or Offset configurable variants are part of the company’s Scalable Powertrain Platform, adaptable to a broad spectrum of vehicles.

Additionally, the company said that Dual EM EDU 550 eAxle’s production version is slated to enter series production next year.

The company’s domain and zonal electronic control units (ECUs), powered by NXP’s S32E2 real-time processors, will also be presented at the event.

These ECUs simplify the traditional multiple-controller setup into single ‘high-performance’ units, offering a ‘centralised architecture’ that is both cost-effective and lightweight.

Rimac's newly unveiled technologies from IAA are set to be manufactured within its Croatian facilities, which encompass a production area exceeding 95,000 m² across two locations.
