Geely-owned premium EV start-up Polestar has announced that the upcoming Polestar 3 model has completed two weeks of extreme hot weather testing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Production of the new car will start in Q1 2024, with the firm expecting three new models on the road, including the two new SUVs, Polestar 3 and Polestar 4.
The hot weather testing for the Polestar 3 took place in the deserts surrounding Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in temperatures up to 50°C (122° F). The tests were designed to enable engineers to fine-tune the climate system of the vehicle.
Thomas Ingenlath, Polestar CEO, said: “The Polestar 3 development and testing programme is progressing well, and I expect production to start in Q1 2024.
"Polestar 3 is at the start of its journey and customers can now visit our retail locations around the world to see its great proportions and sit in its exclusive and innovative interior.”
Earlier this year Polestar lowered its 2023 production guidance and said it would cut headcount by 10%. It cited a delayed production start for Polestar 3, Reuters reported.
