Nio opens new battery swap stations

Third generation stations can perform up to 408 swaps per day

Nio now has 30 Power Swap Stations (PSS) in five European markets after opening two more in Malmo and Arlandastad, Sweden.

Both are third generation stations which can perform up to 408 swaps per day and store up to 21 batteries.

The Chinese EV maker now has 2,217 stations in six countries, including China, which have provided 33m swaps to for owners, an average of 60,000 per day.

Nio reecently added Geely Holding and Changan Auto to its swapping network.

The automaker claims it is now possible to drive its cars from Hamburg to Oslo and Amsterdam to Munich relying solely on its swap stations for such trips.

It established a factory in Biatorbagy, Hungary in 2022, which assembles and supports aftersales service of the swapping stations, training for power operations in Europe, and the research and development of Nio's power products.

A third party charging network gives access to 500,000 charging points from various operators across 11 European countries and the UK.
