The Jeep brand has previewed the next generation Jeep Compass with a design sketch of the new four-wheel-drive mainstream compact SUV.

Built on the STLA Medium platform, the new Jeep Compass will be available in multiple powertrain options from fully electric to hybrid to internal combustion.

Jeep says the Compass will be the brand’s most globally available model and will debut in Europe with production beginning in Melfi, Italy in 2025, before expanding production to North America and around the world in 2026.

Stellantis has faced some criticism in Italy over lower levels of output from Italian plants in recent years. Stellantis owns the ‘national champion’ Fiat brand and makes other Stellantis brand vehicles -  such as Jeep - at its Italian plants.

The Melfi plant makes Jeep Renegade as well as the Compass model, but overall output at Melfi has fallen to under 100k units/pa.

Jeep brand in Europe exceeds 100k sales this year

Jeep brand sales in Europe so far this year, to the end of September, have exceeded 100,000 units. The commercial results at the end of September 2024 show a volume of registrations of 100,700 units, up 3.5% on the same period last year.

Of the nearly 50% of volumes registered outside of Italy, the home European market for Jeep, France saw registrations nearing 9,000 units — up 61% increase compared to last year.

The UK saw over 6,000 registrations, with a year-on-year increase of 155%.

“The remarkable reception of the Jeep Avenger, our first fully electric SUV, is a testament to our innovative spirit and the distinct appeal of our vehicles,” said Eric Laforge, Head of the Jeep brand in Enlarged Europe.

The Avenger has won orders with Italian government fleets such as the Fire Brigade, Carabinieri, and Guardia di Finanza.
