Plans to break ground in October

Graeme Roberts June 15 2023

An unnamed German automaker plans to build a factory in Serbia’s western municipality of Cacak, a greenfield investment worth at least EUR90m (US$98m), president Aleksandar Vucic reportedly said.

The company plans to break ground for the factory in October, Vucic said in an Instagram post cited by SeeNews.

The company would employ 800 workers at the plant, he added.

“By next summer we will be attending the opening of this large factory, which will mean a lot, not only for our city, but also for the whole of Serbia,” Cacak mayor Milun Todorovic reportedly said in a YouTube video posted by local media outlet Glas Zapadne Srbije.

The production and office space, spanning 60,000 sq m, would be built in several phases, Todorovic reportedly added.

Last month, Japanese electric motor manufacturer Nidec opened a factory in the northern city of Novi Sad, SeeNews noted.
