Mercedes-Benz opens first European Charging Hub

Six charging points available in Mannheim, Germany

Dani Cole November 30 2023

Mercedes-Benz has inaugurated its first German charging hub in Mannheim.

The new charging hub is in the Rhine-Main-Neckar region, on one of Germany's most important transport corridors.

In Mannheim, electric drivers can now charge their cars and vans at six charging points, each with an output of 300 kW. Each charger has only one port to ensure that the maximum energy reaches the charging vehicle.

Some electric vehicle models are already able to charge from 10% to 80% in less than 20 minutes

Franz Reiner, CEO Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG said: "The opening of the first Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub in Germany is an important step on our way to emission-free driving.”

Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital and Transport said: “The Mercedes-Benz Charging Hub in Mannheim is an important step towards densifying the charging infrastructure. I am particularly pleased that it is open to all users."

By the end of the decade, Mercedes-Benz plans to establish more than 2,000 of its own charging stations worldwide with over 10,000 fast-charging points.

Smart parking market expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.2% by 2030

Urbanization and population growth are the major drivers of the smart parking market as they have a significant impact on parking demand, traffic congestion, and the need for efficient urban infrastructure. Smart parking systems assist in optimizing the use of current parking facilities by providing real-time information on available spaces and decreasing the time and effort spent looking for parking. Automated parking systems and automobile stacking technologies optimize land usage by requiring less space for the same number of parked vehicles.
