Mercedes-Benz Group reports 4% decline in annual sales for 2024

A key factor in the decline was the drop in battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales, which fell by 22% to 204,600 units.

Mercedes-Benz Group concluded 2024 with a total of 2,389,000 units sold, reflecting a 4% decline compared to the previous year.

A key factor in the decline was the drop in battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales, which fell by 22% to 204,600 units.

For the fourth quarter of 2024, Mercedes-Benz Group achieved 625,800 total units sold, a 2% decline from the 639,800 units sold in Q4 2023.

BEV sales in Q4 totaled 56,100 units, a 24% decline compared to the 73,800 units sold in Q4 2023.

In 2024, Mercedes-Benz Cars sold 1,983,400 units, which represents a 3% decline compared to the units sold in 2023. Of these, 185,100 units were BEVs, showing a 23% decrease from the 241,800 BEVs sold in 2023.

Additionally, 367,600 xEVs were sold, a 9% decrease from 2023.

Mercedes-Benz Group chairman of the Board of Management Ola Källenius said: “In 2024, Mercedes-Benz once again demonstrated the power of our brand and the depth of our broad product offering.

"This culminated in strong sales of our Top-End and Core vehicles in the fourth quarter. We continue to consistently strengthen our portfolio with the biggest product offensive in our company's history starting this year with the all-new CLA.” 

In 2024, Mercedes-Benz Cars reported a 14% year-on-year (YoY) decline in the Top-End segment, with 281,500 units sold.

The Core segment saw a 6% YoY increase, with 1,167,100 units sold.

Meanwhile, the Entry segment experienced a 14% YoY decrease, with 534,800 units sold.

In 2024, Mercedes-Benz Cars experienced a 3% YoY decline in Europe, with 641,800 units sold.

In Germany, sales dropped 9% YOY, with 213,500 units sold.

Mercedes-Benz Vans Performance in 2024

In 2024, Mercedes-Benz Vans sold 405,600 units, a 9% decline compared to 2023. eVans accounted for 19,500 units, a 14% decrease from 2023.

For Q4 2024, Mercedes-Benz Vans achieved 105,700 units sold, a 15% decrease from Q4 2023. eVans sales totalled 6,900 units, a 10% decrease from Q4 2023.
