Bosch leads in automotive recruitment, but Tesla is also on a big hiring drive.

Each week, Just Auto’s journalists explore movements in job postings that shed light on hiring trends in our sector. These job signals provide insights into where the leading companies are focusing their recruitment efforts, and why. We reveal the skills that are in high demand in the sector, and the themes driving current hiring patterns.

This new, thematic jobs coverage is powered by our underlying Disruptor data which tracks all major deals, patents, company filings, hiring patterns and social media buzz across our sectors.

GlobalData analysis shows that Bosch leads in volume for latest recruitment data for the automotive sector. The data shows active job vacancies over a monthly period (19 June-19 July 2023).

Major supplier Bosch is embarking on a global investment programme in major emerging automotive technologies involving powertrain, chassis control and electronics. Last year, the company announced a new software and automotive engineering centre for India (Hyderabad) which is aiming to raise employment there to 3,000 by 2025. There was also an announcement for a new research and engineering centre in Japan (Yokohama) as well as more investment at sites in China and Vietnam.

There’s also a strong showing from Tesla which is ramping up production in China and Europe (it just announced a doubling of capacity for its Berlin plant), in particular. As well as raising global capacity to a planned two million units in the medium term, Tesla is also eyeing new model segments including pickups (‘Cybertruck’) and a lower priced  and higher volume model (dubbed ‘Model 2’). The company recently also closed EV charging network tie-ups with US OEMs including Ford and General Motors. It is aiming to make two million cars this year, up from 1.3 million in 2022. An aggressively expansive strategy will be reflected in hiring activity, as GlobalData’s data suggests.
