Hyundai Motor unveiled a new battery-powered version of its Staria flagship MPV at this year’s Brussels Motor Show, as the South Korean automaker continues to target growing global demand for zero-emission vehicles. The new model will be available initially as a 7-seater family MPV and as a 9-seater ‘Wagon’ variant, designed for group travel and shuttle operations.

The Staria Electric is powered by an 84 kWh battery, which drives a 160 kW (218 PS) front-wheel-drive electric motor, providing a range of up to 400 km. The vehicle uses an 800-volt electric architecture which the company says supports “high power flow while minimizing heat generation, enabling repeated fast charging.” The batteries can be charged from 10% to 80% in 20 minutes using ultra-fast DC charging systems.

A revamped interior includes dual 12.3-inch digital displays, combining the instrument cluster and infotainment system. It is equipped with Hyundai’s SmartSense advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), featuring camera- and radar-based technologies that continuously monitor the surroundings and assist the driver in everyday traffic situations.

Hyundai confirmed that the Staria Electric will go on sale in South Korea and Europe in the first half of 2026, with additional markets to follow later in the year.

Hyundai Motor Europe’s CEO, Xavier Martinet, said in a statement: “Hyundai continues to expand its electric offering to meet everyday mobility needs in Europe. The Staria Electric brings our EV expertise to a vehicle that many customers already know and trust, combining Staria’s impressive space and flexibility with a new, fast-charging, high-voltage system and updated interior to deliver practical, efficient electric mobility for real-world use across Europe.”
