Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) launched its dedicated ‘HTWO’ hydrogen brand and business platform in Japan this week, at the H2&FC Expo in Tokyo, as it looks to position itself as a leading provider of hydrogen-based end-to-end solutions globally.

The H2&FC Expo is one of the world’s largest hydrogen and fuel cell industry events. The South Korean automaker showcased its vision for a hydrogen-powered future with a comprehensive display of technologies, covering the entire hydrogen value chain and end-user segments.

The automaker unveiled the new-generation Hyundai Nexo fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) at the event, offering registered participants test drives of the Japan-spec SUV. This is the first full redesign of the model since it was first launched in 2018, which the company said “combines a robust, future-oriented design with best-in-class safety and convenience features for both urban and outdoor lifestyles.”

A number of HMG affiliates displayed a broad range of HTWO technologies, such as hydrogen refueling solutions including a packaged hydrogen refueling station concept, a hydrogen tram, a hydrogen burner, a hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric truck and bus, a new hydrogen fuel cell system and the Automatic Charging Robot–Hydrogen (ACR H).
