Hyundai group brands adopting NACS charging

Drivers will gain access to 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the continent

Luke Martin October 06 2023

Hyundai Motor Group brands Hyundai, Kia and Genesis will adopt Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) for charging ports on EVs sold in North America from the fourth quarter of 2024.

Drivers will gain access to 12,000 Tesla Superchargers across the continent.

In the US, new EVs will come exclusively with a NACS port while Canadian models will follow in the first half of 2025.

Owners of EVs with the current CCS port will have access to the Tesla network from Q1 2025 using an adapter.

The automaker will offer adaptors to those owners and also offer them for charging NACS plug-equipped vehicles at CCS chargers.

“This new alliance....complements our joint venture to create a new, high-powered charging network with at least 30,000 stations across North America,” said Jose Munoz, president and CEO of Hyundai Motor North America, in a statement.

Metaverse has the potential to disrupt all stages of the automotive value chain

Although the impact of the metaverse on the automotive industry is minor so far, this technology promises to make digital media experiences more immersive, inclusive, and accessible than today. Its impacts will be particularly felt by OEMs and sales and marketing. As the light vehicle market becomes increasingly saturated, investment will be redirected towards improving in-car media and safety features, leading to an increasingly connected vehicle network.
