Honda’s global vehicle output falls 7% in July

Output in China plunges 23% year-to-date.

Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company has reported a 7% year-on-year fall in global production to 277,635 vehicles in July 2025, from 298,649 units in the same month last year, with a 10% rise in output in Japan to 67,804 units more than offsetting by an 11.5% drop in overseas production to 209,831 units.

In the first seven months of 2025, the company produced a total of 2,014,016 vehicles globally, down by almost 8% from 2,180,63 units a year earlier, with domestic output just slightly lower at 393,945 units, while overseas production dropped by over 9% to 1,620,071 units.

Vehicle production in Asia outside Japan plunged by almost 20% to 629,084 units year-to-date, driven lower by a 23% plunge in Chinese output to 373,198 units. Production in North America declined by 2% to 936,337 units during this period, with output in the US falling by 5% to 562,334 units.

Exports from Japan increased by almost 24% to 61,302 units year-to-date, driven by an almost fivefold increase in exports to the US to 14,110 units, while exports to Europe plunged by almost 16% to 24,577 units.
