Japanese automaker Honda Motor Company has reported that its global vehicle production fell slightly to 276,895 vehicles in April 2026, from 279,094 units a year earlier. Production in Japan continued to grow strongly, by almost 23% to 58,762 units, while overseas production declined by 4.7% to 218,133 units. Sales in Japan rose for the first time in 13 months, by 1.5% to 45,744 units.
Vehicle production in North America rose by 5.9% to 153,614 units last month, with output in the US up by 5.7% to 97,045 units, while production in Asia dropped by over 32% to 53,145 units, including a 39% plunge in China to 28,842 units.
Exports from Japan increased by 7.2% to 9,852 units in April, driven by a 72% surge in exports to Europe to 6,293 units, while shipments to North America plunged by 94% to 473 units and exports to Asia dropped by 9% to 288 units. Exports to other markets surged by over 55% to 2,798 units.
