Honda Motor announced that it plans to make the latest Google Gemini AI assistant available in all models sold in the US equipped with the Google Built-in operating system, providing owners with a “more conversational, hands-free voice experience.”
The Japanese automaker confirmed that the Google Gemini AI assistant will be available in new models, and also as a seamless upgrade in select Civic, Accord, Prelude, CR-V, Passport, and Pilot models. The company announced separately that Google Gemini will also be made available in select ADX, MDX, and ZDX models under its premium Acura brand in the US.
Google Gemini, a more powerful AI assistant than the existing Google Assistant, is built on advanced generative large language models (LLMs), programmed to understand context, draft content, and hold complex conversations. Honda said that Google Gemini can “engage in more intelligent, conversational interactions by maintaining context across multiple exchanges while enabling drivers to keep their eyes on the road and their hands on the wheel, providing a more personal, connected driving experience.”
Jessika Laudermilk, assistant vice president of Honda National Auto Sales, said in a statement: “Connected technology is no longer a convenience for Honda customers, it is an essential part of the driving experience. The integration of Google Gemini reflects our commitment to providing technology that enhances every journey to helps Honda drivers stay informed, connected, and productive."
