Automotive Tier-1 supplier Gentex has said it has signed a letter of intent to build a new manufacturing plant in Morocco. It has also said it has received Morocco government support for the project to produce automotive mirrors at the new plant.

Morocco has emerged as a growth pole for low-cost automotive manufacturing activity in recent years. Renault and Stellantis are among the OEMs who have set out plans for expansion in the country, which benefits from a free trade agreement with the EU.

Renault makes the Dacia Sendero in Morocco and Stellantis makes the Peugeot 208.

Total vehicle production in Morocco reached 450,000 units in 2025, according to GlobalData. By the end of the decade, automotive production in the country is forecast to be approaching 700,000 units a year.
