Forvia, a French automotive technology supplier, has teamed up with Indian IT major Wipro to optimise its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) applications.

The project focused on optimising Forvia's vehicle safety and comfort applications using Wipro Engineering Edge’s Cloud Car platform, which leverages microservices and a vehicle container architecture to improve functionality.

The centrepiece of the collaboration was Forvia's surround-view technology, which integrates exterior camera feeds into a 3D perspective, aiding drivers in parking their vehicles safely and effortlessly.

The improvements also included transitioning Forvia’s ADAS applications to a cloud-native architecture, making them more hardware-independent and significantly reducing maintenance costs, Wipro said in its press release.

With this update, Forvia's ADAS solutions are now seamlessly integrated into original equipment manufacturers' (OEMs) value chains, offering enhanced scalability and long-term sustainability.

Wipro Southern Europe regional head and managing director, Graziella Neuveglise said: “We’re very pleased with the outcome of this work for Forvia.

“This project shows our strong and diverse skills in the Software Defined Vehicle area, working with automotive leaders to boost their growth and rethink safety and entertainment features using cloud-native engineering principles.

“We’re excited to keep working with Forvia to help them achieve their ambitions.”

Forvia Electronics Europe division vice president Vanessa Picron said: “Within the software transformation of the automotive industry, moving to microservices & container architecture is a key lever to bring more competitive, easier to integrate functions to our customers and extend our business with new software-only solutions, including on safety relevant features.”
