Stellantis to start Fiat 500 Hybrid production at Mirafiori in November

Hybrid variant offering reflects disappointing sales of the electric Fiat 500.

Fiat has commenced the assembly of the first pre-production units of the Fiat 500 Hybrid at its Mirafiori plant in Turin, Italy.

This development signifies a critical phase in the vehicle's industrialisation process, with full production scheduled to commence by November.

The Fiat 500 Hybrid represents the company's commitment to sustainable mobility and reinforces its strong ties to Italy.

FIAT CEO and Stellantis Global CMO Olivier Francois said: “500 Hybrid offers affordable electrification and iconic style, proof that social relevance is at the core of the Brand mission.

"With the 500 Hybrid, we are strengthening production at Mirafiori to ensure the plant’s productivity and meet the demand. Our roots are in Italy and it’s no coincidence that the two most iconic FIAT are made here: the Panda in Pomigliano and the 500 in Mirafiori.”

The 500 Hybrid model is designed to support the shift towards more sustainable transportation options.

With its hybrid engine, the Fiat 500 Hybrid will offer consumers in Europe and other markets a greener choice of the iconic city car.

Over 70% of the vehicles produced at the Mirafiori plant are exported outside Italy, underlining the global appeal of the Fiat 500.

Also, Stellantis paused the production of the electric Fiat 500 at the Mirafiori plant from 2 December 2024 to 5 January 2025.

The temporary was due to a series of production stoppages this year, attributed to the subdued demand for electric vehicles in the European market.
