EVSIS opens new charger plant

New smart factory in a five storey building

Graeme Roberts March 04 2024

EVSIS, the electric vehicle (EV) charging system manufacturer owned by South Korea’s Lotte Data Communications, said it had completed a new plant near Cheongju.

EVSIS spent KRW20bn (US$15m) on the new smart factory in a five storey building with 16,500 sq m of space.

The facility doubles existing production capacity to around 20,000 charging systems per year once fully operational.

The company claimed productivity would increase with the new plant, helped by the introduction of additional automated systems including in line conveyor belts and autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) used for transporting materials.

Delivery times would be shortened and worker productivity boosted.

EVSIS said it had produced and installed 4,000 chargers by the end of last year and aimed to increase output to 7,500 units by the end of 2024.

The company also said it was targeting higher sales in North America and south east Asia and would also enter Japan this year.
