Nissan Motor’s Chinese joint venture, Dongfeng Nissan, has provided a preview of its first plug-in hybrid sedan, the N6, along with the new Teana sedan, as part of the second phase of the company’s Re:Nissan global recovery plan. Both models are scheduled to go on sale in China by the end of this year.

Nissan confirmed that the N6 is the first plug-in hybrid (PHEV) sedan to be built on Dongfeng Nissan’s new energy technology architecture, the same platform used in its existing N7 battery-powered sedan. The N6 is powered by a 1.5-litre gasoline engine and a 21.1 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, and features the company’s V-Motion signature grille and LED lighting at the front and rear.

The new Teana comes with an updated design and advanced intelligent connectivity. It will be Nissan’s first internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle in China to feature Huawei’s ‘Harmony Space 5.0’ smart cockpit.

Nissan Motor’s president and CEO, Ivan Espinosa, said in a statement: “Under our Re:Nissan plan, we are redefining what Nissan delivers today and beyond. It is about strengthening our core, reigniting Nissan’s heartbeat, and creating products that inspire excitement and trust. It is about a sharper, more focused product strategy, a stronger brand, and a renewed commitment to our customers. Integral to this transformation is China, an essential market whose speed, technological leadership, and customer insights are setting the pace for the global auto industry.”

Ivan Espinosa pointed out that Nissan’s joint ventures with Dongfeng “have enabled us to localize products, accelerate innovation, and meet the unique needs of Chinese customers. Our teams in China are accelerating electrification, expanding our NEV portfolio, and helping to position China as a key pillar in Nissan’s global strategy. The progress is visible, with China contributing meaningfully to new energy vehicle development and being set for future export growth. Together we are shaping the future of mobility.”
