China’s Chery International Group announced that its cumulative exports have now surpassed 5 million vehicles, with the company claiming to be the first Chinese automaker to achieve this milestone. The state-owned automaker said it has been the country’s top vehicle exporter for the last 22 years, since it began overseas shipments in 2001.

Chery also pointed out that its Fortune Global 500 ranking rose to 233rd in July, up from 385th in 2024, while its ranking in China rose to 59th from 100th last year.

Chery’s global sales surged by 38% to 2,603,900 vehicles in 2024, including its Omoda, Jetour, and Exeed brands. Exports last year rose by 21% to 1,144,588 units, to around 44 markets in the ASEAN region, Europe, South America, and Australia.

In the first seven months of 2025, the company’s global sales rose by a further 14% to 1,484,563 units, while exports were up by just 7.5% to 669,360 units, reflecting rising overseas production in countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Brazil, Egypt, Kazakhstan, and Spain.
