Available to use from 2024

Dani Cole October 27 2023

BP is buying Tesla fast charging hardware worth US$100m to expand its BP Pulse public charging network across the US.

The chargers will be available for use in 2024.

BP Pulse, the energy giant's EV charging unit, plans to spend $1bn building its nationwide charging network by 2030 with half of that to be invested in the next two to three years.

The unit's CEO, Richard Bartlett, said: “Combined with our vast network of convenience and mobility sites on and off highway, this collaboration with Tesla will bring fast and reliable charging to EV drivers when and where they need it.”

Rebecca Tinucci, Tesla senior director of charging infrastructure said: " We appreciate BP’s partnership in this area."

The development was announced after a swathe of automakers, including Nissan, Toyota, Ford and Mercedes-Benz all moved to adopt Tesla’s NAC standard charging plugs.

Per GlobalData estimates, smart parking market expected to grow at a CAGR of 13.2% by 2030
