Electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment and service provider Blink Charging has acquired Zemetric, a company specialising in charging infrastructure with solutions designed for fleets.

This move aims to bolster Blink’s presence in the EV charging market and enhance its product offerings.

Zemetric was founded in Silicon Valley in 2022 by a team of “transport electrification veterans.”

The company's hardware, software, and service solutions are said to have been designed to scale electrification efforts seamlessly.

Blink Charging CEO and president Mike Battaglia said: “Zemetric is a future-ready organisation with innovative tech solutions and expertise in high-utilisation EV charging and intelligent energy management.

“The Zemetric team has consistently delivered innovative, scalable solutions that meet the evolving needs of fleets and commercial customers. We are particularly excited about adding Zemetric’s intelligent and flexible L2 product to our lineup. Zemetric is a natural fit for our portfolio as we continue building a smarter, more connected charging ecosystem and steer towards profitability.”

The Zemetric founding team will be integrated into Blink's leadership.

Zemetric CEO and founder Harmeet Singh, previously a technology leader at Shell and Greenlots, will take on the role of chief technology officer at Blink.

His industry experience will be pivotal as Blink explores an open charging ecosystem.

Harmeet Singh said: “We are proud to have created a charging company that focused on making the ICE to EV transition an easy button for our customers, and we look forward to writing the next chapter with the electrification-first team at Blink.”

Bonnie Datta, Zemetric's chief commercial officer and co-founder, will join as senior vice president of Global Commercial Operations, while co-founder and head of engineering, Kapil Singhi, will play a senior role in global charger development.

Blink's acquisition of Zemetric was the result of a comprehensive search process, facilitated by the energy transition-focused search firm Brightsmith Group.

Last month, Blink entered a collaboration with WirelessCar and ChargeHub to launch a 'Seamless Charging' pilot programme across North America. The programme is aimed to revolutionise the EV charging experience.
