Renault Nissan Automotive has built 2.5m cars at its factory in Chennai, India.

The company has maintained an annual average of 192,000 Renault and Nissan cars over 13 years with one unit off the line every three minutes.

The factory has produced 20 models since opening.

On 600 acres, the plant supplies both domestic and export markets.

Renault Nissan has exported 1.15m vehicles from Chennai's Kamarajar Port to 108 destinations.

These include the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, New Zealand, Australia, South East Asia, SAARC countries and sub-Saharan Africa.

“We are poised to introduce a line of new and enhanced vehicles, including electric models, solidifying our position as pioneers in modern technology with a focus on reducing environmental footprint,” said Renault India CEO Venkatram Mamillapalle.

“RNAIPL is gearing up to manufacture six new models, three each for Renault and Nissan, as announced under the Alliance investment plan,” added Keerthi Prakash, managing director of Renault Nissan Automotive.
