Amazon-owned Zoox and Uber Technologies have entered a partnership to introduce Zoox’s purpose-built robotaxis on Uber’s ride-hailing network.
The companies plan to begin the service in Las Vegas this summer, with an expansion to Los Angeles targeted for mid-2027.

Under the arrangement, Zoox robotaxis – acquired by Amazon in mid-2020 – will be available via the Uber app.
Riders requesting eligible trips may be matched with a Zoox autonomous vehicle.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said: “Zoox’s commitment to safety and their advanced autonomous driving technology make them an ideal partner. We are thrilled to work together to introduce more riders to the future of mobility.”
Zoox said it will continue offering rides through its own mobile application in both Las Vegas and Los Angeles alongside the Uber integration.
According to the company, its robotaxis are designed specifically for ride-hailing services rather than modified passenger vehicles.
The agreement represents the first time Zoox has partnered with a third-party ride-hailing platform such as Uber.
Zoox CEO Aicha Evans added: “This partnership is an opportunity to continue advancing the use of autonomous mobility in daily life.
“Through our collaboration, Zoox will provide a differentiated rider experience to those who already know and love the convenience of riding with Uber.”
In August last year, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) granted Zoox an exemption allowing its self-driving vehicles to operate on public roads in the US.
The approval was issued under the automated vehicle exemption programme (AVEP) and marked the first authorisation for American-built vehicles after the programme expanded to include domestic manufacturers.
Separately, last month Uber and Baidu announced plans to deploy Apollo Go autonomous vehicles in Dubai through a partnership with the city’s Roads and Transport Authority.
The service will be available on Uber’s platform and initially operate in selected areas of Jumeirah before expanding across the city, subject to regulatory approvals and performance assessments.
