ZKW is to expand its plant in Silao, Mexico by 19,000 square metres of production space by the end of 2020 and double staffing levels by 2023.
ZKW is investing a total of around EUR67.5m (US$75m) at the site in Mexico.
The project follows ZKW’s expansion at its factory in Krušovce, Slovakia, where production space was doubled to around 42,000 square metres. With around 2,500 employees, the plant is ZKW’s second largest production site.
“Despite the tense economic situation in the automotive industry, we are continuing to expand our locations in order to remain competitive in the long term,” said ZKW Group CEO Oliver Schubert.
The Silao site will be equipped with technologies for the manufacture of plastic injection moulding systems, hard coating for the coating of plastic diffusing lenses, painting systems, metalisation equipment for reflectors and headlight assembly lines.
