ZF has launched a new brake actuator platform.
Using a platform approach for the first time, ZF says its fourth-generation brake actuator technology offers “significant safety and cost efficiency benefits” for OEMs.
The German supplier has signed a long-term agreement with an unnamed OEM based in Europe to equip its medium and heavy-duty trucks and buses with its latest brake chamber range.
“Delivering the highest safety and quality standards, our new brake actuator platform provides significant performance and efficiency advantages for OEMs, including cost and variant reduction,” said EVP, president EMEA with ZF Commercial Vehicle Control Systems division, Nick Rens.
“Securing our first customer award from a leading OEM is clear validation of our approach.
“Having sold more than 70m brake actuators worldwide, this innovation will build on our position as a trusted OEM partner with almost four decades of brake actuation technology.”
ZF’s brake chamber range with platform approach, supports all types of trucks, buses and trailers. The redesign builds on Wabco’s brake actuation technology with a focus on design-to-cost.
