Chinese company Yanfeng Automotive Interiors has completed construction of a seating factory in Kragujevac in Serbia.

The supplier intends to create 500 jobs in Kragujevac over the next few years and to launch production at the new site by summer 2022, Yanfeng said in a statement cited by SeeNews.com.

The supplier will manufacture seat components for various customers in a production area of approximately 20,000 sq m at the new factory.

“With our new seating plant in Kragujevac, we are responding to market demand and expanding our product portfolio in Europe,” Chunfeng Xu, Yanfeng Seating general manager in Europe, was quoted as saying.

In August 2020, the Kragujevac city government said Yanfeng planned to invest EUR18m (US$21.1 million) in the project by 2023.

Yanfeng already operates an interior components plant in Kragujevac which opened in November 2019.
