Beleaguered VW Group may be open to a public listing of its trucks business according to reports.

The latest reports follow speculation that the company could look to sell some parts of its business in order to raise cash as the costs of the 'dieselgate' scandal mount. The company has been forced to delay publishing its 2015 earnings results "due to remaining open questions relating to the consequences of the emissions issue and the resulting valuation issues".

A VW trucks spokesman told Reuters that the company is keeping its options open about a possible takeover as well as about a stock market listing.

Reuters noted that last year, Manager Magazin, reported that Volkswagen may restructure its trucks business so that it could be spun off from the main group.

Bloomberg reported that the company is looking for expansion for its heavy trucks division and investigating strategic options so that the division can compete globally with Daimler and Volvo. An IPO and reorganisation for greater independence could unlock value, some analysts say.

In the Bloomberg interview, VW trucks head, Andreas Renschler, said that the US and China were obvious regions for possible expansion.
