Geely’s Volvo Car USA has named Jeff Moore vice president, manufacturing, Americas and plant manager for the new Charleston Plant, from 16 July.
Moore will head overall strategy for the new plant, the automaker’s first in the US (CKD kit assembly took place at two locations in Canada between 1963 and 1988) including running day to day business operations.

Moore moves to Volvo with 33 years of automotive manufacturing experience, most recently having been senior vice president at Toyota Motor North America where he headed powertrain manufacturing and engineering including five Toyota plants. He had previoulsy progressed through various management positions at Toyota including general manager in Japan with global responsibility for new model and model change projects.
Katarina Fjording, currently vice president manufacturing & logistics, Americas will move out of her current role. A new position will be announced at a later date.
Later this week the automaker will inaugurate the Charleston plant which will be the sole production site for the redesigned S60, the first Volvo car made in the US.
