Tesla battery systems will be installed at more than 100 electric vehicle US charging stations this year, Bloomberg reported.
Electrify America, created by Volkswagen as part of a settlement from the automaker's emissions cheating scandal, told Bloomberg on Monday it plans to add the Tesla Powerpack systems at charging stations across the US through 2019. The 210-kilowatt battery systems will each have about about 350 kilowatt-hours of capacity. Terms of the deal weren't disclosed and a Tesla spokesman declined to comment.

Bloomberg also said Tesla was taking steps to enhance the energy systems in its cars. The company agreed to acquire battery-technology company Maxwell Technologies for about US$218m in stock, in a deal also announced on Monday.
Maxwell's lithium-ion capacitors may assist with faster car charging capability.
Electrify America plans to spend $2bn to support of zero emission vehicles in the US, under a court settlement, Bloomberg noted.
