The increase follows recent monthly increases and reflects improving domestic sentiment, with increasing optimism that the worst of the global economic recession’s impact on Vietnam is over.


However, cumulative sales from January to September dropped 12% on last year.


Sales in the passenger car category rose 15% during the nine-month period from a year earlier, it said.


Toyota leads the vehicle market. Its accumulated sales so far this year rose 24.2% from a year earlier to 19,446 vehicles – a share of the market of almost a quarter.
