Vietnam’s new vehicle market expanded by over 20% to 8,465 units in September, from 7,041 units in the same month of last year, according to data released by the Vietnam Automotive Manufacturers Association.
A further 180 Mercedes-Benz vehicles were sold during the month, which are reported separately by the association.

Light passenger vehicles continued to drive the market forward, with deliveries rising by close to 29% to 5,232 units, reflecting improving consumer lending and lower interest rate cuts.
Commercial vehicle sales also improved in September, with volumes rising by 6.7% to 3,053 units, with a further 37 bus chassis delivered during the month.
In the first nine months of 2013, total vehicle sales increased by just over 20% to 67,045 units, from 55,807 units in the same period of 2012. Light passenger vehicle sales were up by over 38% at 39,761 units, while commercial vehicle sales slightly lower at 26,126 units.
