New vehicle sales in Vietnam rose by 10% to 10,031 units in September, from 9,141 units a year earlier, according to the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers Association.
Passenger car sales rose by 51% to 4,145 units, while sales of SUVs and MPVs were up by just 1% at 1,989 units. Commercial vehicles sales weakened further, however, with voumes falling by 12% to 3,897 units.

Cumulative sales for the first nine months of the year rose by 3% to 80,678 units, from 78,180 units a year earlier, due mainly to rising demand for passenger cars.
