Vietnam’s new vehicle market continued to rebound in June, with sales rising by close to 32% to 10,853 units from 8,239 units in the same month last year, according to data released by the Vietnam Automotive Manufacturers Association (VAMA).
Cumulative six-month sales jumped by more than 27% to 54,986 units, from 43,135 units previously, with demand for all types of vehicles growing strongly, helped by low interest rates and improving economic growth.

First-half sales of passenger cars, SUVs and MPVs jumped by more than 30% to 32,011 units, while commercial vehicle sales increased over 21% to 21,711 units.
Toyota led the overall market in the six-month period, but with growth of less than 12% to 16,653 units, its sales are coming under pressure from rising competition from other Japanese brands such as Mazda and Honda.
Truong Hai (Thaco), which assembles Kias and various other commercial vehicles, reported a 23% sales rise to 14,232 units.
Third-placed Ford saw its sales rise by 54% to 5,264 units, reflecting strong demand for the Transit minibus/van and the Ranger pickup truck.
Mazda reported a near threefold sales increase to 3,619 units during the six-month period, reflecting particularly brisk sales of the Mazda 2 and 3 passenger cars and CX5 SUVs.
Honda sales increased by 133% to 3,238 units with the City compact passenger car and the CRV model generating most of its sales.
