Akebono Brake Industry is to establish a new manufacturing venture in Vietnam with PT Akebono Brake Astra Indonesia and PT Astra Otoparts in November 2011.
As part of Akebono’s expansion plans for Asian operations as outlined in the ‘Akebono New Frontier 30’ medium-term business plan announced last June, the new company, Akebono Brake Astra Vietnam (AAVH) will meet increased demand in expanding markets, enhance revenue reduce risk exposure through the geographic diversification of production.

The new company will be established on the outskirts of Hanoi to manufacture motorcycle disc brakes and master cylinders for Japanese OEM manufacturers in the region.
It is estimated that overall investment will total around JPY130m (US$1.6m), targeting sales of JPY 1.2bn and net income of JPY 200m by 2015. Start of production is planned for July 2012.
