Venezuela
is on track to become Renault’s sixth largest market outside Europe this year,
says a report in the newspaper El Nacional.
The paper said that Colombia was usually ranked sixth by the French car maker
but Venezuelans will buy 11,500 Renaults this year compared with 10,000 in Colombia.

Colombia is a South American Renault assembly base but Venezuela, unlike recession-hit
Colombia, is enjoying a sales boom thanks to laws that allow family cars to
be sold without VAT, El Nacional said.
Renault sales in Venezuela are up 78 percent over 2000 so far this year, the
newspaper said, for a 5.1 percent market share.
