Ward’s said that, including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 6,579,811 vehicles, down 2.3 percent from like-2004’s pace.


In the U.S., automakers are estimated to have produced 250,284 vehicles last week, down 4.3 percent from the 261,456 cars and trucks built in the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 U.S. vehicle output totals an estimated 4,929,297 units, down 2.1 percent compared to the 5,035,734 vehicles built in like-2004.


Last week’s Canadian vehicle production is estimated at 52,529 units, a decrease of 6.3 percent from the 56,055 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar- 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,048,949 units, down 4.3 percent compared to the 1,095,528 vehicles produced in like-2004.


Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the U.S., General Motors Corp. accounted for 29.3 percent; Ford Motor Co., 21.2 percent; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 16.1 percent; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 7.5 percent; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.8 percent; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 6.4 percent; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.3 percent; BMW of North America Inc., 1.1 percent; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.6 percent; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.6 percent; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.0 percent; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.4 percent; and other manufacturers, 2.7 percent.
