Automotive parts maker Visteon is to building a $US324-million headquarters along Interstate 275 in Van Buren Township near Detroit, the Detroit News reported.

Highlights will include a village office complex overlooking a large, man-made lake, the newspaper added.


The Detroit News said that Visteon, now based in Dearborn, plans to consolidate 4,000 employees from 14 separate locations at the new site, which will feature a series of individual buildings overlooking landscaped courtyards.


The complex would have a central “town square” with cafeteria, shops and service outlets such as a bank and dry cleaners, the newspaper added.
Construction is scheduled to start this summer, the Detroit News said, and finish by 2005.


“We have not made a final decision on the project, but we hope to make an announcement on whether we move forward (by July),” Visteon public affairs manager Tammera Hallums told the Detroit News.
