The slowdown in U.S. vehicle production has hit the country’s main lead producer
which is cutting output and laying off 225 workers.

Jeffrey Zelms, vice-chairman, president and chief executive of the privately
owned lead miner and refiner Doe Run blamed poor market conditions for the cuts.
