Vehicle production last week in the US, Canada and Mexico was expected to hit an estimated 304,125 units, down 9.2% from the 334,930 cars and trucks built the previous week, according to wardsauto.com.

Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 6,881,761 vehicles, down 2.4% from like-2004’s pace.
In the US, automakers were expected to produce 218,014 vehicles last week, down 12.4% from the 248,801 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output totals an estimated 5,145,828 units, down 2.3% compared to the 5,269,511 vehicles built in like-2004.
Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 51,804, a decrease of 2.5% from the 53,120 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar- 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 1,101,344 units, down 3.9% compared to the 1,145,978 vehicles produced in like-2004.
Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 26.3%; Ford Motor Co., 22.9%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 13.8%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 8.6%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 8.1%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 7.3%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.7%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.3%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.7%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.5%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.2%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.4%; and other manufacturers, 3.2%.
