Including last week’s estimates, calendar year North American output now totals 12,671,216 vehicles, down 0.1% from like-2004’s pace.
In the US, automakers were expected to produce 250,168 vehicles last week, down 4.0% from the 260,620 cars and trucks built the previous week. To date, calendar 2005 US vehicle output now totals an estimated 9,392,240 units, up 0.2% compared to the 9,374,436 vehicles built in like-2004.
Last week’s Canadian vehicle production was estimated at 51,781, a decrease of 17.2% from the 62,525 units assembled the previous week. Estimated calendar 2005 Canadian vehicle production now stands at 2,046,320 units, down 2.7% compared to the 2,103,772 vehicles produced in like-2004.
Of the cars and trucks slated for production last week in the US, General Motors Corp. accounted for 31.4%; Ford Motor Co., 21.0%; Chrysler of DaimlerChrysler, 13.1%; Honda of America Mfg. Inc., 7.0%; Toyota Motor Mfg. Inc., 7.0%; Nissan Motor Mfg. Corp., 7.5%; New United Motor Mfg. Inc., 3.3%; AutoAlliance International Inc., 2.1%; Subaru of Indiana Automotive Inc., 1.1%; BMW of North America Inc., 1.0%; Mitsubishi Motor Mfg. of America Inc., 0.9%; Mercedes-Benz U.S. of DaimlerChrysler, 0.8%; and other manufacturers, 3.8%.
