California’s Aria-Group has signed a joint venture with Sydney firm CMC Power Systems Ltd to commercialise an Auxiliary Power Unit based on the compact, quiet CMC engine.

The 500cc APU will increase overall efficiency by generating electricity independently of the main vehicle engine and operating at optimum speed. It will supply electricity at 42 volts to meet what is developing as a new industry standard to replace the existing 12-volt systems.

In Europe a company famous for developing Formula 1 racing engines is forming an alliance with CMC to test and benchmark CMC car engines and build production prototypes of a 500cc APU based on CMC technology.
