It anticipates the centre will employ over 200 by the end of 2006.
The engineering centre has been introduced to support the global activities of the Occupant Safety Systems (OSS) business. It has facilities to provide services in product design, numerical simulation, performance modelling, applications engineering, testing, software and hardware engineering, and configuration management, as well as having a fully fitted prototype shop.
A TRW spokesman said: “The establishment of this centre is in support of our expected significant growth in the coming years. We have a well-established manufacturing presence in Poland and the Czech Republic and have recently opened a facility in Romania. This expands our engineering presence in eastern Europe.”
TRW Automotive first established a presence in Poland in 1990, and now employs more than 4,500 people, reflecting its strength in the active and passive safety field. It has five plants in Poland with two sites in Czestochowa, one in Gliwice, one in Czechowice-Dziedzice and one in Pruszkow.
