“This condition could occur at any time without prior notice and control of the vehicle could be affected,” the carmaker, a unit of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd., said in a statement cited by the Reuters news agency.
The statement reportedly identified vehicles affected by the recall as certain Subaru Outback H-6 and Impreza WRX turbo vehicles from the 2001-2004 model years.
According to Reuters, the company said no accidents or injuries have been reported in connection with the problem, which occurs when a wayward cruise control cable on the vehicles comes out of its track.
