Auto enthusiasts will get their first look at what the industry has to offer for the future at this year’s 30th anniversary South Florida International Auto Show. The show opens at the Miami Beach Convention Center on Friday, October 6, and runs through Sunday, October 15.

“Our auto show is the first of the season,” said Phil Smith, show chairman. “South Floridians will be among the first in the nation to see the newest vehicles and the industry’s technological advances.”

Considered one of the nation’s largest auto expos, the 2001 show will showcase new cars, sport utility vehicles, trucks and accessories from more than 40 auto manufacturers. Volvo, Kia, Ford, Saturn and General Motors are among the lines planning opening day press conferences to introduce their newest vehicles.

A host of concept vehicles are also expected to make their debut. Popular exhibits, including Memory Lane, Car Boutique and Auto Show Mall, will again help to fill the nearly one million square feet of space.

Visitors to the auto show can register to win a 2001 model year Chrysler Sebring Convertible or a 2002 Volvo S60. The Sebring Convertible will offer a 200-horsepower 2.7-liter V-6 engine, while the newly redesigned Volvo will feature a 170-horsepower 2.4-liter five-cylinder engine. Discount tickets to the show will be available at participating new car and truck dealerships, McDonald’s restaurants and Muvico Theatres.

The South Florida International Auto Show is produced by the South Florida Auto-Truck Dealers Association, which comprises more than 220 dealers in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties.
